Job Summary

The Flatbed Trucking Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the transportation of machinery, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, and oversized loads using flatbed, step-deck, and specialized trailers. This position ensures efficient scheduling, regulatory compliance, on-time deliveries, and effective communication between drivers, customers, and carriers.

Key Responsibilities

●Schedule and dispatch flatbed trucks for machinery and heavy equipment transportation.
●Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments with customers, job sites, dealers, and auction locations.
●Match loads with available drivers and equipment to maximize fleet utilization and profitability.
●Monitor driver locations, shipment status, and delivery timelines.
●Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, state, and local transportation regulations.
●Obtain and verify permits, escorts, routing requirements, and clearance restrictions for oversized loads.
●Communicate load details, route information, and customer requirements to drivers.
●Track shipments and proactively resolve transportation delays, route issues, and customer concerns.
●Maintain accurate dispatch records, driver logs, and load documentation.
●Negotiate freight rates with brokers, customers, and carriers when required.
●Coordinate maintenance scheduling and equipment availability with fleet management.
●Verify load securement requirements and ensure drivers have appropriate equipment, chains, straps, binders, and tarps.
●Provide exceptional customer service through regular shipment updates and issue resolution.
●Assist with after-hours and emergency dispatch coverage as needed.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• ●Minimum 2 years of dispatching experience in flatbed, heavy haul, or specialized transportation preferred.
• ●Knowledge of machinery transportation, oversized loads, and heavy equipment logistics.
• ●Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS tracking, and dispatch software.
• ●Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
• ●Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• ●Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Non-negotiable Requirements

• ●Familiarity with load boards such as DAT, Truckstop, and other freight-matching platforms.
• ●Experience working with owner-operators and company drivers.
