Job Overview
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll lead the design, deployment, and optimisation of our Azure-based infrastructure to support our IoT-enabled fire safety products. You’ll be building secure, scalable systems from the ground up, enabling real-time device connectivity, telemetry processing, and high-availability applications. This role is hands-on, strategic, and central to delivering our product vision.
Key Responsibilities
- ●Design and implement Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform).
- ●Build CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for Node.js application deployment.
- ●Configure and manage Azure IoT Hub for device connectivity, telemetry ingestion, and lifecycle management.
- ●Establish a containerisation strategy for Node.js applications using Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Azure Container Instances.
- ●Configure Azure-native services including App Service, Azure Functions, PostgreSQL, and Event Hubs.
- ●Implement data processing pipelines for IoT telemetry using Azure Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, and Time Series Insights.
- ●Deploy robust monitoring and observability with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
- ●Manage Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, NSGs, Application Gateway, and Load Balancer.
- ●Implement security best practices,s including Key Vault, Azure AD integration, device authentication, and security scanning.
- ●Establish automated backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- ●Optimise Azure costs, particularly for high-volume IoT data ingestion and storage.
- ●Collaborate with development teams to improve Node.js application performance and deployment strategies.
Requirments
What You’ll Bring
- ●5+ years’ DevOps experience with a strong focus on Azure cloud services.
●Expert-level knowledge of Azure services: App Service, AKS, Azure Functions, PostgreSQL, Event Hubs, Key Vault, Azure Monitor.
●Hands-on experience with Azure IoT Hub, device provisioning, and IoT lifecycle management.
●Proficiency in Node.js deployment and performance tuning.
●Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform).
●Strong CI/CD expertise using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar.
●Docker and Kubernetes orchestration experience (preferably AKS).
●Azure networking skills, ls including security groups and traffic management.
●Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
●Scripting proficiency (PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
Nice To Have
- ●IoT industry experience, including telemetry processing and large-scale device management.
- ●Understanding of IoT protocols and edge computing.
