Job Summary

As our Senior Systems Engineer, you will take ownership of the technical backbone behind our core business systems, starting with NetSuite. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and business — translating operational needs into reliable, scalable technical solutions while keeping day-to-day systems running smoothly for users across the business.

As the business systems footprint grows beyond NetSuite, the role is expected to grow with it, taking on new platforms and technologies over time. It is a strong fit for someone who enjoys both the technical depth of platform engineering and the collaborative, cross-functional side of working closely with the business.

Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Systems Support & Technical Delivery
●Provide support to ensure system faults are rectified promptly.
●Develop technical solutions to meet ongoing business requirements.
●Design, build and maintain custom modules, scripts, workflows and integrations across core business systems.
●Enable users at all levels to perform their jobs effectively.
●Ensure business reports are accurate and provided promptly.

Continuous Improvement & Solution Development
●Support continuous improvement of systems.
●Assist the organisation in the selection, development of, and transition to new solutions.
●Translate functional requirements into technical designs and oversee their implementation.
●Apply sound change control, testing and deployment practices across sandbox-to-production releases.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
●Build rapport and working relationships with teams across the business, at both management and end-user level.
●Lead technical design reviews, code walkthroughs, and platform governance discussions.
●Work closely with the Business Systems Manager to align technical delivery with the platform roadmap.

Prioritisation
●Ensure prioritisation of projects, tasks and resources in accordance with direction from the Business Systems Manager.

Compliance
●Ensure systems are followed in terms of: QA systems (ISO 9001), Documentation, WHS (ISO 45001), and Environmental systems (ISO 14001)

ISO27001 and Security Compliance
●Ensure compliance with IT and data security best practices.
●Adhere to ISO27001 principles.

Requirements

Qualifications and requirements:

• ●Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  ●NetSuite SuiteCloud Developer I and II certifications.
  ●Prior experience with ERP implementation and support.
  ●Knowledge and experience in SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  ●Knowledge and experience in cloud and web application development.
  ●Prior experience with integration projects connecting different applications, particularly via web services.
  ●Ability to translate a functional document/requirement into a technical design (TRD).
  ●Ability to gather requirements and write an FRD (advantageous).
  ●Ability to work across both technical and functional consultancy (advantageous).
  ●Experience with different project methodologies (e.g., Waterfall and Agile).
  ●Experience working with modern IDEs such as VS Code, and code repositories/version control such as GitHub.
  ●Experience with Atlassian tools – Jira, JSM, JPD, Confluence, Zephyr.

Skills & Attributes

• ●Advanced skills across core NetSuite modules: SuiteScript, SuiteTalk, SuiteFlow, and Advanced PDF/FreeMarker.
  ●Expertise in SuiteScript 2.x for custom business logic, workflows, and UI enhancements.
  ●Strong knowledge of the SuiteCloud Development Framework (SDF) and deployment best practices.
  ●Familiarity with SuiteTalk (SOAP/REST web services) for system integrations.
  ●Experience with saved searches, custom records, workflows, and user roles/permissions.
  ●Understanding of platform architecture, record structure, and data models (NetSuite today, with the ability to apply this thinking to other business systems as they are introduced).
  ●Ability to design and oversee custom modules and deployment packages.
  ●Hands-on experience with integrations via middleware tools (e.g., Dell Boomi, Celigo, MuleSoft).
  ●Proficient in platform configuration, including form customisation, scripting triggers, and UI improvements.
  ●Experience with sandbox-to-production deployment, release testing, and change control.
  ●Knowledge of platform release cycles and ability to plan for upgrades/updates.
  ●Comfortable leading technical design reviews, code walkthroughs, and platform governance discussions.
  ●Awareness of platform security models, performance considerations, and optimisation techniques.
  ●Exposure to or interest in emerging NetSuite AI capabilities, such as the N/LLM module or Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations within NetSuite (advantageous).
